December Updates & Last Weekend for Orders!

Good evening wild soul,

As we reach mid-December, I feel a sense of relief to know that we are almost at the shortest day of the year now, how are you holding up?

On Saturday, 21st December we reach the Winter Solstice, after which the light slowly begins to expand once again. Can you believe, that by the end of January, we will have an extra hour of daylight compared with today!

We have had a busy month making up your orders, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has shopped with us again this year. It really means the world to us, to still be here, creating gifts for you and your loved ones for another year.

Shop Update

If you are still thinking of shopping with us before Christmas, please do get your orders in by 7pm on SUNDAY 15th DECEMBER. Any orders placed after this time will be shipped out in the New Year. This is to ensure your UK order has plenty of time to reach you before Christmas, given the increased pressures on the postal system at this time.

We still have some lovely things in store if you are looking for a last minute gift. From tree pendants, to prints and boxsets, here is a taste of what is still available…

December Moments

Whilst this time of year can feel busy and full, we hope you are finding some cosy, slower moments amidst it all. Energy can be lower at this time of year so make sure to take a few extra moments to nurture yours this month. A cup of tea drunk slowly under a blanket. Getting into bed a little earlier to read a book, light some candles or sink into a hot bath. It need not be fancy, just something that allows you to take a deeper exhale after a long day.

The last Full Moon of the year will rise on Sunday 15th at around 3.20pm in the UK. Fingers are crossed for clear skies so that we can catch a glimpse at some point in the evening.

I wanted to leave you with a few of our favourite photos from December’s gone by as a reminder of the beauty that can be found on these cold Winter days. I hope you enjoy them and find some moments of peace this week,

Much love,

Nic x

The cycles of the Moon

Each year Earth orbits around the Sun. As the Earth’s axis is tilted, different parts of its surface receive more/less direct rays from the Sun as we move around it. This creates the yearly seasonal cycle here on Earth. The variation of light, warmth and energy impacts all life and as we enter into the Winter season here in the Northern hemisphere, we observe bare, resting trees, animals hibernating and changes to our own energy, mood and focus.

Virgo season

Today – the 22nd August, the Sun transitions into the sixth sign of the zodiac; Virgo. Virgo season runs up until September 23rd, before the sun moves into the sign of Libra, at the Autumn Equinox.

Virgo season spans the height of the harvest when times are busy gathering, processing and storing produce for the months ahead. This practical earth sign is associated with qualities of strength, hardwork, organisation, practicality and determination with high standards for themselves and others.

Virgo season can be a good time to really connect with the earth, grounding ourselves in this abundant season. We may experience more focus for any projects we may have over the month ahead and it can be a good time to assess where we may be overly harsh on ourselves and others.

Leo Season

Tomorrow – the 23rd of July, the Sun moves into the fifth zodiac sign of Leo. Leo season runs up until August 22nd, before the sun transitions into Virgo.

Leo seasons spans the height of summer, where times are rich with warmth, energy and fun and creativity peaks. Qualities associated with this sign include confidence, leadership, generosity, creativity and joy.

Leo is a fire sign and is ruled by the sun, the centre of our universe. This season may offer up the fire and energy to invoke change, celebrate life and return to our core, helping us to speak our truth.

Harvesting with the Moon

The moon’s gravitational pull influences many things on our planet, but perhaps most notably the rise and fall of the ocean’s tides. It is less well known however, that the same gravitational pull affects groundwater levels. The concept of aligning gardening with the moon phase is as old as agriculture itself. It is believed that as the moon is waxing towards the full moon, groundwater rises up, providing good conditions for planting. No dig gardener Charles Dowding has conducted a number of small studies comparing the yield of crops planted under the waxing and waning moon. So far, he has shown that crop yield in a variety of veg has been higher when planting with the waxing moon.

Gemini Season

The sun has now entered the zodiac sign of Gemini; the third sign of the zodiac year which runs between May 21st and June 21st. The season was well opened by the New Moon in Gemini last night.

Gemini season falls in between Spring and Summer, where much of nature is growing and learning. This sign is often linked with the joys and curiosities of learning and communication. The influence of Gemini’s element air also bring a focus on ideas and thoughts. Gemini is often referred to as ‘the twins’ and can relate to the concept of duality and balance, and at times when two things fall out of balance; play and rest for example conflict may be felt until balance is restored.
