Hello lovely soul,
With June almost upon us we have been finding ourselves inspired by the legend of the Oak and Holly kings. In today’s post we shall be sharing a little more about this legend, reflecting on the energy of Oak and Holly and introducing you to our new Wild Jewellery collection, so lets dive in…
The Legend of the Oak and Holly Kings
In many nature-based traditions these two trees are thought of as the Kings of the forest, the protectors and guardians of the natural world that rule over different halves of the year. Some tell this legend as a battle story occurring at each solstice as the power transitions from one king to the other. I like to think of these tree kings as guides whose energy can support us in connecting to the rhythm of the yearly cycle.
The period between the Winter Solstice and the Summer Solstice is often referred to as the ‘light’ half of the year. This is when the light is expanding in the Northern hemisphere and is a time of increased energy and growth said to be ruled over by the majestic Oak King. Oak symbolises strength, growth and possibility and is a wonderful guide in times of expansion.
The period between the Summer Solstice and the Winter Solstice is often referred to as the ‘dark’ half of the year as the light is waning during this time. Much of the natural world begins to slow down and starts a retreat inwards. This time is said to be ruled over by the slow growing yet wise Holly King. Holly guides us in the art of patience, rest and inner wisdom as we navigate our inner journeys.

Oak and Holly Wild Jewellery Collection
Our new collection has been inspired by the contrasting energies of these two wise Kings. Each piece has been lovingly crafted to combine rich dark Oak wood with pale Holly wood. We wanted to unite these powerful guides in each piece to celebrate the rhythmic nature of all things.

With love and forest magick,
Nic and Chris
