Harvest Moon blessings

Hello Wild Soul,

Just a quick update from me today to wish you a happy full moon and introduce you to a new addition to our Moon pendant collection.

The harvest moon is the name given to the full moon that occurs closest to the Autumn Equinox. It rises at sunset, appearing larger and brighter than usual, lighting the land, historically helping farmers to gather in the last of the harvest. The moon turned full in the early hours of this morning, so expect another beautiful rise this evening, if skies are clear.

Introducing the Hazel Moon

We are very excited to tell you that we have crafted some Hazel moon pendants to share with you.

Humans have had a long relationship with the Hazel tree. The first boats and homes were made from this strong, flexible tree, allowing us to expand and evolve. Hazel guides us in new beginnings, creativity, overcoming challenges and approaching things with an open and flexible mindset. You can read more about the Hazel tree here.

Moon Print Discount

To celebrate the harvest moon, we currently have 20% off our Moon phases print until tomorrow!

Wishing you all a magical full moon,

New Moon blessings and a bank holiday sale

Hello Wild Soul,

How are you as the Summer begins to wane? I know many of you I have spoken to are feeling ready to embrace the colder months to come. While I love the colours, bounty and cosiness that Autumn brings, I find the end of Summer nostalgic, tinged with a little sadness. Another year seems to be galloping by, and the world has been feeling pretty heavy of late.

A beautiful Hawthorn at Meldon reservoir

With the moon waning, we took ourselves off to Dartmoor last week, where we spent a few days climbing tors, letting ourselves get lost in the vastness of the moors and explored beautiful river valleys and woodlands. There is something about exploring (near or far) that immerses us in the moment and opens our eyes again. Connecting with a sense of awe is important respite in challenging times.

Late Summer Magic

Have you noticed how the lowering light becomes more golden at this time of the year? How coolness is ebbing into the edges of the day? I love immersing myself in the colours at this time of year, soaking in the vibrancy and abundance of the land.

As we arrive at the New Moon, I wanted to share these simple rituals with you, perfect to create some time for over the weekend.

Full Moon Magic

Hello Wild Soul,

With July’s Full Moon rising tomorrow evening, we felt inspired to create some Full Moon pendants this week. We were drawn to woods that feel particularly supportive and balancing during the intensity that can sometimes be felt during this time of year. More on these later…

We wanted to say a big thank you for your feedback on our new Moon Phase print. I wanted to share this photo with you, of one very happily in its beautiful new home. Doesn’t it look wonderful?

Thank you for sharing Donna, @silver_moonlit_hare

Our Moon Phase prints have 20% off until Sunday.

Upcoming Events

We are getting ready to head to Norfolk this weekend for the Strumpshaw Tree Fair where we will be trading alongside some wonderful artisans and woodcrafters. The fair will include workshops, activities and performances across the whole weekend and while tickets are now sold out online, you can still pay on the gate. In August we return to the fabulous Ye Olde Wytches Market in Newark.

To celebrate tomorrow’s Full Moon, these 5 Full Moon pendants are in store now. Handcrafted from windfallen Ash, Holly, Willow, Oak and Beech.

Before I go, I am very excited to share that our gallery is now live on our website and you can view it here. This is an ongoing project so please get in touch if you would like to be part of our gallery.

I have shared both Cristi and Jo’s words this week on Instagram. If you missed them, you can read them now by clicking on their beautiful photos.

The cycles of the Moon

Each year Earth orbits around the Sun. As the Earth’s axis is tilted, different parts of its surface receive more/less direct rays from the Sun as we move around it. This creates the yearly seasonal cycle here on Earth. The variation of light, warmth and energy impacts all life and as we enter into the Winter season here in the Northern hemisphere, we observe bare, resting trees, animals hibernating and changes to our own energy, mood and focus.

Harvesting with the Moon

The moon’s gravitational pull influences many things on our planet, but perhaps most notably the rise and fall of the ocean’s tides. It is less well known however, that the same gravitational pull affects groundwater levels. The concept of aligning gardening with the moon phase is as old as agriculture itself. It is believed that as the moon is waxing towards the full moon, groundwater rises up, providing good conditions for planting. No dig gardener Charles Dowding has conducted a number of small studies comparing the yield of crops planted under the waxing and waning moon. So far, he has shown that crop yield in a variety of veg has been higher when planting with the waxing moon.
