Hello lovely soul,
It has been an interesting September so far in the UK with some of our hottest temperatures of the year occurring this month! And yet, despite the heat, signs of Autumn’s approach are weaving their way into daily life. The misty mornings and dew decorated spider webs. The hedgerows heavy with purple and red jewels and the return of the Robin to our garden who has been serenading us each morning. I wonder, what changes you may have been noticing where you are?
This time of year, is a wonderful time to pause and acknowledge the transition of the year from Summer into Autumn. As the light is noticeably retreating now, we may find ourselves craving more rest, earlier nights, hearty foods and cosiness. One of my favourite practices for this time of year is to create or tend to a space so that it feels cosy and welcoming for self care practices for the darker months to come.
In today’s post I wanted to share with you a little of what we have been up to lately, some ideas for connecting with the season and let you know what we have coming up over the next few months…

Wild Fen Updates
Since moving to our base in the Northamptonshire countryside last year we have been preparing to take our Wild Fen offerings out and about. We now have two craft fairs under our belts and loved them so much! It was so nourishing to connect with people, and discuss all things trees, herbs and seasonal living and of course meet so many talented makers too.

We have some fab events coming up too. You can find us next at:
- Rockingham Castle Artisan Market on 23rd and 24th of September
- Samhain Wytches Fayre, Wyberton, Lincs 28th October
Land updates
It has also been an exciting time at Wild Fen HQ with our very first harvest season at the patch! Every dry day has seen us gathering and drying herbs and flowers, crafting Smoulder Sticks, Incense blends, teas and tinctures and collecting seeds for next year. Despite the unusual Summer weather, we have had many growing successes as well as gathered our lessons for next year. I would love to hear whether you have been harvesting anything from your garden this year?

Mabon
This year, Mabon the festival of the Autumn Equinox falls on Saturday 23rd September. At this point in the year, night and day length come into balance once again after which, the hours of darkness continue to expand towards our darkest day at the Winter Solstice in December. This heralds a time to begin slowing down and taking stock of the year this far. Give thanks and honour that which has worked out, release that which is ready to fall and be gentle with any challenging feelings that may arise as we transition seasons.
Some practices I love around this time are:
- Lighting candles and/or incense around our home
- Gather some fruit and bake a pie, crumble or cake
- Cook some warming and hearty food
- Go for a walk and notice any signs that Autumn is on its way
- Gather some natural treasure – acorns, nuts, dried grasses and berries
- Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset where possible
- Have a fire at the end of the day

Wild Fen Offerings
You can find all our nature inspired crafts in store here. We are currently working on our much loved Lunar Calendar for 2024 that we will be launching next month! We have been enjoying working with some glorious woods this month, inspired by the vibrant hedgerows of course…

We have also refreshed our Smoke Cleansing Incense blends which after lots of requests are now available in 2 sizes!

Wishing you all a beautiful transition into Autumn. May you find some time to connect with the changing energy in whatever way feels right for you,
With love and magic,
Nic and Chris
